The Planning
Hello all! This post will be short and sweet. This is where I’ll be sharing the my Costa Rica journey with all of you!
This all started back in December 2025 when I was at Urbana, a global missions conference. I had been trying so hard to land a career job in the environmental world all year to no avail. I was exhausted and directionless. I felt too old to be still working a part time job at REI, yet incredibly young and unsure of what direction to take. A two month internship in Costa Rica was presented to me by a mutual friend. I was fairly certain I didn’t’ want to go abroad again for work, especially not now. I needed to focus on my career. But the description of this internship was incredible. It was the exact type of work I want to get into – digital media communications for an environmental organization! We’re talking social media, a documentary, photos, videos, etc.
Very long story short, I took almost two months to finally decide to do it. Fast forward to now – mid April – I just hit my fundraising goal today and booked my flight. yesterday. I’m heading to Costa Rica in May! There’s still a lot of planning and logistics to figure out, but I’m approaching all of this with an open mind and trust that God is fully in this process. He’s brought about so many connections, miracles, blessings and lessons, even in just these past few months. I’m sure there’s more to come!
