Hello, all!

A little bit about me:

My name is Kaitlyn. I was born and raised in Sacramento, California. I like to say my dad is a modern John Muir. He’s a nature-loving, self-appointed guide to all things natural history of California – Ranger Dave, we jokingly call him. My mom grew up a wild child in Wisconsin and got a one-way ticket to California in her early twenties. She became a nurse, which is a pretty great job, but she eventually landed the best job: a homeschool mom to my brother and me. Raised by these two, I formed a deep love of the outdoors, education and adventure.

I attended Northern Arizona University and got a degree in Environmental Studies and Photojournalism. My college experience was a long journey of twists and turns, highs and lows, but I came away with a deep desire to tell stories about people and our planet using a multimedia approach.

I’ve also had a close, personal relationship with God since I was about seven years old. Now, I’m aware I may have just dropped a bombshell for some people, an offensive explosion that causes walls to go up and doors to slam shut. GOD. Such a loaded word to dare involve in what was a light-hearted conversation! But before you leave, let me briefly explain. When I was young – like I said, about seven – I had an experience that fully, deeply, irrevocably introduced me to God. Since then, I’ve been following after Him. I consider myself a follower of Christ, yet one that might squirm just a little bit when someone asks me, “are you religious?” All that is to say: God is inextricably woven into the tapestry of my life and the way I see the world. And, at the same time, I leave a lot of room in my relationships and connections with people for all kinds of beliefs, experiences and worldviews. So, dear reader, I hope this was both an honest and welcoming open door into my world.

A little bit about this site:

This site is a little bit of everything and a “lot-a-bit” of ME in every post! This is a place where I share my journey as I stumble, jump, fall, skip and stroll through life. I sincerely hope the stories I share here will touch your heart and make you feel SEEN and HEARD. This is deeply important to me: to tell honest, relatable and meaningful stories. I hope you find connection, joy and comfort here. Welcome, and thank you for being here!
